What is Lumitell?

Lumitell is a Swedish application by AI Gothenburg that lets families create personalized, illustrated stories using artificial intelligence (AI). The app is designed for parents and children to enjoy together - whether as a cozy bedtime ritual, a creative activity, or quality time with your little ones. You provide a theme, idea, or photo, and the app creates a unique story with text and illustrations. Each story is one-of-a-kind.

Our Commitment

We believe in transparency and doing things right. We've designed Lumitell with privacy and safety as priorities - not afterthoughts. Lumitell does not store your stories or photos remotely, we don't collect data from children, and we're upfront about how the technology works.

Agreement

By using Lumitell, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who Can Create an Account?

Accounts must be created by adults (18 years or older). Children should always use the app together with a parent or guardian - that's the whole point! We designed Lumitell for those cozy reading moments together.

Your Responsibilities

• Keep your login credentials secure
• Provide accurate information when signing up
• Don't share your account or create fake accounts

We offer sign-in via Google or email. We only collect the email address needed to manage your account.

Acceptable Use

Lumitell is built for families creating stories together. Please don't use it to generate content that is:

• Illegal, violent, or sexually explicit
• Hateful, discriminatory, or harassing
• Designed to harm, mislead, or exploit others
• Infringing on someone else's rights

We use content filters to steer the AI toward family-friendly output, but the prompts you write are your responsibility. If we discover misuse, we may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice.

Account Termination

You can delete your account anytime via the app or by contacting us. We may also terminate accounts that violate these Terms - particularly regarding the acceptable use guidelines above.

Pricing

Lumitell is a subscription service with multiple tiers. Prices are shown in your local currency in the app. Each tier includes a set number of story pages per 30-day billing period.

What's Included

All paid tiers include:

• Story pages per 30-day period (amount varies by tier)
• All 28 illustration styles
• Save and download story images
• Stories up to 10 pages

Premium tier additionally includes:

• AI narration voice — listen to your stories read aloud

Billing & Renewal

Payment is processed through Google Play. Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel.

After cancellation, you keep access until your current period ends. Your locally saved stories remain on your device.

EU Withdrawal Right

EU consumers have a 14-day withdrawal right. By starting to use Lumitell, you consent to immediate service delivery and acknowledge that your withdrawal right will be reduced proportionally based on your usage. If you withdraw after using the service, you will receive a proportional refund minus the value of pages already generated. We track your usage to calculate this fairly.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Google Play. For EU consumers exercising their withdrawal right, refunds are calculated proportionally based on pages used (e.g., if you used 40% of your included pages, you receive a 60% refund).

We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what we do and don't do:

What We Collect

• Your email address (for account management)
• Usage statistics
• Basic technical info (app version, device type for troubleshooting)
• Anonymous analytics to improve the app
• Feedback and suggestions you choose to submit

What We Do NOT Collect or Store

• Your stories and images - NOT stored remotely by Lumitell
• Uploaded photos - NOT retained by us
• Personal information from children - NEVER
• Your location - NOT tracked
• Data for sale - we NEVER sell your data

Local Storage

Your stories live on your device. You control them completely. This also means we can't recover them if you delete the app or lose your phone.

Analytics & Minors

If a user is identified as a minor (under 18), we do not collect any analytics data unless a parent or guardian has provided verified consent. This ensures compliance with children's privacy regulations.

Data Deletion

Want your account data deleted? Use the 'Delete My Data' button in Settings, or email [email protected]. We will delete your account and usage data within 30 days. Note: Anonymous analytics data (linked only to a random device identifier, not your identity) cannot be deleted as we have no way to identify which data is yours. Data previously sent to our AI providers (Anthropic, Google) for story generation is automatically deleted per their retention policies (7-55 days) and cannot be manually deleted earlier.

What We Use

Lumitell connects to AI services from:

• Anthropic (Claude) - for story text and character analysis
• Google (Gemini) - for illustration generation and narration voice

We do not operate our own AI - we use these established providers.

When You Upload a Photo

If you upload a photo for character analysis:

• It's sent to both Anthropic (for analysis) and Google (for illustration)
• Lumitell does not store your photos on any server
• Anthropic may retain data for up to 7 days, Google for up to 55 days (per their policies)
• Photos are NOT used to train AI models (per current provider policies)

We recommend not uploading sensitive photos if you're uncomfortable with third-party processing. For full details, see Anthropic's and Google's privacy policies.

AI Limitations

Stories are created by AI and may contain quirks — unexpected words, grammar hiccups, or creative surprises. That's part of the magic, but it means the output isn't always perfect:

• Text may contain unusual phrasing, spelling variations, or grammatical errors
• Story logic and illustrations are generated algorithmically and may be unexpected
• The AI providers include content filters, but no system is 100% reliable
• We recommend parents always read along, especially with younger children

Children's safety is a top priority for us.

Our Promises

• We NEVER collect personal information from children
• We don't know who the children in your stories are
• The AI services are configured for family-friendly content
• We use content filters to prevent inappropriate material

Age Verification & Parental Consent

Users are asked to verify their age when first using the app. If a user is under 18, a parent or guardian must provide consent via email verification before the account can be used. Until parental consent is verified, no analytics data is collected from the minor's device.

Parent's Role

Lumitell is designed for families to enjoy together. As the adult account holder:

• You're responsible for how children interact with the app
• We recommend reviewing stories, especially for younger children
• You accept these Terms on behalf of children using your account

Content Filters

We work hard to ensure all generated content is appropriate for families. However, no filter system is 100% perfect. If you ever see content that concerns you, please tell us immediately at [email protected] - we take all reports seriously.

Ownership

You own the stories you create. Neither Lumitell nor our AI providers (Anthropic, Google) claim ownership of your generated stories and images. You're free to:

• Share them with family and friends
• Print them
• Post them online
• Use them commercially if you wish

Local Storage

Your stories are stored on your device, not remotely by Lumitell. This means:

• You have full control over your stories
• We can't access or see your stories
• If you delete the app or lose your phone, stories are lost
• We recommend saving story images to your photo library as backup

Copyright Notice

AI-generated content may not qualify for copyright protection under current laws, as copyright typically requires human authorship. Your creative input (choosing themes, editing, selecting) may affect this. We can't guarantee the copyright status of generated content.

Our License

By using Lumitell, you give us permission to process your content solely to provide the service to you. This permission ends when you delete your content or account.

What We Commit To

• Maintaining reasonable security for your data
• Implementing appropriate content safety filters
• Responding to reported issues promptly
• Being transparent about how everything works
• Continuously improving the service

AI-Generated Content

Stories and illustrations are created by third-party AI services based on your input. Lumitell does not manually review, endorse, or control what the AI produces. You're responsible for reviewing the content before sharing it, and we're not liable for output that is unexpected, inaccurate, or unsuitable. If something doesn't look right, let us know at [email protected].

Limitations

While we do our best, we can't guarantee:

• That AI content will always be perfect or meet your expectations
• Uninterrupted service (we depend on third-party AI providers)
• Recovery of locally stored stories
• That the app will be free of bugs or errors
• Compatibility with every device or operating system version

Lumitell is a small, actively developed app. We fix issues as fast as we can, but like any software, things can occasionally go wrong. Features may also change over time as we improve the service. Our total liability for any claims is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim - this is standard for digital services.

What We're Always Liable For

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:

• Death or personal injury from our negligence
• Fraud or intentional misconduct
• Anything that can't be excluded under applicable law

Your Consumer Rights

If you're in the EU or other regions with consumer protection laws, your statutory rights always apply. These Terms don't reduce any rights you have under local law.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Swedish law.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, please contact us first at [email protected]. Most issues can be resolved with a simple conversation. For EU consumers: You can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr and you always have the right to bring claims in your local courts under applicable consumer protection laws.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. For significant changes, we'll notify you at least 14 days in advance via email or in the app. If you disagree with changes, you can cancel before they take effect.

Language

These Terms are written in English, which is the legally binding version. Translations are provided for convenience only.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
